Thomas E. Potter

Thomas E. Potter, 65, of Elkville, passed away at 1:35 a.m., Thursday, June 26, 2008, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Thomas had worked for twenty-three years as Superintendent for the water and sewer at Elkville.  He had most recently worked at Kincade Water Plant and Elverado Water District.  He was a member of the Elkville Baptist Church.  He was also a member of the Fairlane Club of America and Southern Illinois Street Machines.

He was born May 1, 1943, at West Frankfort, the son of Orville and Lynwood Potter.

He married Gail C. Lindsey in 1963 and they were married for forty-five years and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Elkville; one daughter, Lisa Potter of DeSoto; special cousin, Phyllis Tow of Carbondale; and all of his special friends of Southern Illinois Street Machines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 28, at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. James Kerley and Bro. Ron Kreid officiating.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery at Carbondale.

Friends may make memorials to the Southern Illinois Street Machines or No Kill Pet Shelter and will be accepted at the funeral home.
